ICT Learning in your Community

ICT - Information, Communication and Technology - is playing a an increasingly important role in our everyday lives at home, work and in education - mobile phones, the internet, e-mail, digital television, personal computers etc. Near 90% of all jobs require direct interaction with ICT, it is not surprising that more and more people are looking to improve their ICT skills, whether it be for employment or simply leisure purposes.

ICT Learning Centres provide communities across the District with a local place to learn in a flexible and supportive environment operating from a mix of venues- schools, community centres, libraries and purposely deigned training centres. All centres share the aim to help local people improve their IT skills and knowledge and provide a range of common services and opportunities for example;

Many of the centres provide opportunities to search on the internet, for instance, to find out about local events, family history, job opportunities and health.
