Established in 1987 Wansbeck Centre for Voluntary Service provides information, support and advice to voluntary and community groups throughout the Wansbeck area. Wansbeck Centre for Voluntary Service is based close to the centre of Ashington; there are currently over 200 member organisations registered with us.
The following is an overview of projects that are based at Wansbeck CVS.
Supporting carers in South East Northumberland. Carers Together can offer a wealth of information for carers to guide them in their caring role; we provide support, training and give you the opportunity to have a say and influence issues of importance to carers.
The Funding Advice Service works with groups to identify and obtain sources of suitable funding. Funding Advice can provide assistance on the following: identifying sources of funding, completing application forms, letters of application, increasing awareness of funding and funding strategies.
The New Deal voluntary sector option is designed to help adults who have been unemployed for six months or more back into work.
Wansbeck CVS offers help, advice and training relating to the setting up or running of voluntary organisations or community groups.
The Volunteer Centre, as part of Wansbeck CVS, covers the Wansbeck and Castle Morpeth areas and promotes volunteering throughout the two districts. We act as a brokerage service and match volunteer's skills and interests with opportunities from our registered voluntary organisations.
The Enabling Project provides volunteer enablers and offers an assisted shopping project for elderly and disabled people in the Wansbeck area. Our aim is to assist people to be more independent, rather than having things done for them.
Representing the aims and aspirations of all local groups who are working for the good of the community in the Wansbeck area.
With the help of local people and established local history groups this project aims to record the history of the local area for the benefit of the local community and others, while also providing the health benefits of walking to those taking part.
Does your organisation struggle to allow staff time to attend training courses or other events? Would you like to increase your skills and knowledge of working in the Voluntary and Community Sector? The Backfill Project aims to help alleviate any problems caused by the temporary absences created when a member of staff attends training courses or other events.
