
The Compact is an agreement which has been established between Wansbeck District Council and the voluntary sector, which identifies the means in which they work together.
The overall aim of The Compact is to put in place guidelines, which will improve the relationship, and give a better understanding, between the public sector and voluntary and community organisations.
Improve the relationship between the council and the voluntary sector for mutual advantage.
Identify commitments that both sides have signed up to.
Appreciate the independence of groups and their right to campaign.
Seek to ensure that voluntary and community activity is supported and encouraged.
Thus The Compact established between Wansbeck District Council and the voluntary sector means we will work together to improve outcomes for the community by improving partnership, community, quality of life and services.
To achieve this both sides have made commitments in relation to how they work with the other.
Promote the Compact across the Council.
Respect the independence of the voluntary and community sector.
Support the voluntary sectorConsult early enough to make a difference.
Promote the Compact across the sector.
Operate through open and responsible organisations.
Involve all appropriate organisations and embrace diversity.
