The Sustainable Communities Fund aims to build the capacity of the community and voluntary sector in Wansbeck, and help organisations become more sustainable.
The fund is being administered by Wansbeck District Council and Wansbeck Centre for Voluntary Service. Funding for the scheme is provided through the Safer Stronger Communities and Cohesion Fund, which has been awarded through Wansbeck Initiative, the Local Strategic Partnership.
The fund is available to "not for profit" constituted organisations operating within and providing services to Wansbeck communities. Funding is available to support small to medium sized projects which fall under the following priorities:
Projects that demonstrate how their proposed project would ensure the sustainability of local service provision. An example might be developing or extending the life of a community building or facility.
Projects that build the capacity of the VCS for sustainability. Examples might include IT equipment to improve services or develop capacity; training; or the development and management of volunteering.
Projects that maximise environmental improvements. For example, energy efficiency measures for a community facility, or environmental training/ learning activities.
Grants of £100 to £5,000 are available though the Wansbeck Centre for Voluntary Service.
Grants of £5,000 to £15,000 are available through Wansbeck District Council.
