Go Wansbeck - Wansbeck's Local Enterprise Growth Initiative

This section of the site includes details of the the Government's Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) where Wansbeck has been successful in a recent bid for funding. LEGI is a pilot programme that supports the national neighbourhood renewal strategy by inviting the 88 Neighbourhood Renewal local authorities to bid competitively to boost their local economies by stimulating more entrepreneurs, business growth and job creating investment.

Go Wansbeck - Get Involved! The Go Wansbeck campaign officially launches today at Woodhorn in Ashington on 13 July 2007 with Sir John Hall, new Minister for the North East Nick Brown MP, local businesses, partners and communities. Go Wansbeck is the bright green brand which is the name of Wansbeck's Local Enterprise Growth Initiative programme - the £11.8 million which Wansbeck secured from Government to transform the local economy over the next 3 years and beyond. The campaign has been spreading across the district and the region in the shape of press releases, posters, newsletter and the Go Wansbeck bus. A Go Wansbeck newsletter has been delivered to residents and businesses in Wansbeck to keep people up to date with the opportunities, activities and good news about local people and businesses. A Go Wansbeck TV advert is being shown on ITV (first airing at 7.45pm on 13 July), with postcards sent to all residents in advance to urge them to watch local people promoting the area on regional television and create a sense of pride locally and interest in the area externally.

Go Wansbeck offers grants, loans, support and advice to increase enterprising activities in the district and to boost business and the economy from schools to communities and for new and exisiting businesses.
